Before my career as a financial planner I graduated from Cardiff University with a BSc Hons in Business Administration. I completed the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) accredited Financial Planning Certificates whilst working for a life assurance company after graduation.
More recently I have achieved the CII accredited DipPFS Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. I am now a Partner Practice of St. James's Place, running my own financial planning business as the Principal of Copford Financial Planning. I am qualified to advise in retirement planning, mortgage planning, investment planning and many other areas across the financial planning spectrum.
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
I believe that for many of us, finance is complicated and intimidating. Schools do not educate much in the area. Consequently, there is a need for trustworthy and knowledgeable financial planners that can help clients develop a better understanding of their financial situation and what they should be doing to achieve their goals.
Unless you win the lottery, for most of us money is hard to come by. I really enjoy helping people to save their hard earned money, protect it from the unforeseen, and hopefully, grow their wealth over the long-term. This is why I became a financial planner.
I did not become a financial planner immediately after graduating from University. I felt that I needed more life experience before I sat in front of a client approaching retirement telling them what I, a 21 year old, should be doing with their money. I was working in the financial services sector but left the industry.
I did some travelling, became a Police Officer, and Airline Pilot. I started my financial planning career full time in 2021, and many of my clients are from these sectors as I have a unique understanding of them. I am still a current airline pilot but spend most of my time building my financial planning business as the Director of Copford Financial Planning.
